The Socceroos are off to the World Cup after a heart-stopping penalty shootout.

Young defender Kye Rowles made his Socceroos debut against Jordan recently and spoke to Peter Psaltis from Doha, still reeling from the win.

He admitted he hasn’t had much sleep since the win against Peru to qualify for the World Cup but it was the sort of moment you live for, and he was privileged to get the call up to play.

“To be honest I didn’t expect to feature in [the games] at all … you know that’s what’s so great about all the boys here when they are called upon, we really stand up and that’s what being Aussie is about, when you are called upon doing your mates and your country proud.”

He says the win hasn’t sunk in yet and he’s stoked.
