Steve Waugh: ‘His greatest innings is still being played’

Steve Waugh is a remarkable cricketer.

“But in many ways, his greatest innings is still being played,” says Alan Jones.

Founder of the Steve Waugh Foundation, his mission is to help those suffering from rare diseases.

Each year, The Captain’s Ride puts rare diseases on the map as cyclists ride an 800km, six-day road tour through Victoria’s highlands.

Waugh tells Alan “it’s meant to be tough”.

“We try and emulate the spirit of the kids that we support.

“They do it tough each and every day of their lives. They never complain. They get on with the job.

“We only ask the riders to do it tough for six days.”

This year’s ride will take place Monday, October 29 until Saturday, November 3.
