State’s $190 million plan to see school internet 200 times faster
School internet speeds are set to accelerate under a new partnership between the state government and Telstra.
The Queensland government will spend $190 million on the deal with the telco, which they promise will see internet speeds in schools up to 200 times faster by 2026.
Around 40 state schools will be connected to fibre optic cables for the first time.
Meanwhile, Telstra has pledged $110 million for exchange upgrades.
Work is already underway with updates set to begin rolling out from the start of next term.
