Statement from Mark Braybrook

Article image for Statement from Mark Braybrook

4BC Drive host Mark Braybrook has spoken this afternoon about his future at the station.

“I feel I should make some comment about an article that appeared on the Courier-Mail’s website earlier this afternoon.

The paper reports that Friday will be my last show as host of 4BC Drive.

That is true, I have planned holidays for the non-ratings period for months, so I won’t be here come Monday. Karl Stefanovic will be on-air while I go fishing.

What is also true is that I have been speaking with management about where my future may, or may not lie. It is no secret I have a sporting background. I started at 2UE in Sydney as a sports reporter and moved to Brisbane 26 years ago to be sports director here at 4BC.

I have built my career around sport and as well as hosting Drive, have appeared on our sister station Maquarie Sports Radio since its inception.

I don’t know where my future lies, but I am missing being involved in sport. Calling the Intrust Super Cup for Nine this year has been fantastic and I love the television work and hope to do more of that next year.

As I sit here all I know is I am going on holidays after I call the Intrust Super Cup semi final on Nine on Sunday and then I am heading to my happy place to fish.

What happens after that will be in the best interests for me and my family, and the company.”
