State schools ditch report cards after ‘various disruptions’ to start of year
A number of state schools reportedly plan to ditch Term 1 report cards after various disruptions to the start of the school year.
Neil Breen was first alerted to the issue by the parent of a student at Alexandra Hills State High School, which informed families only its Year 11 and 12 students will receive report cards for their first term (see letter below).
The school instead plans to discuss student progress with parents and carers at a parent-teacher interview evening.
This is despite assurances by the Education Minister earlier this year that students would not be set back by a two-week delay to the start of the school year.
“She said we will be able to get through the curriculum, we will be able to deliver on everything and kids won’t miss out,” Neil recalled.
“Here you go: no report cards.”
