Triathletes and spectators will brush shoulders with sporting royalty next week at Noosa’s most iconic sporting event.

The main event will see participants power through a 1.5-kilometre ocean swim, 40-kilometre bike ride and 10-kilometre run.

A particular highlight for some, Managing Director of the Iron Man Group Geoff Meyer says, will be the celebrity team handing out medals.

Among the iconic names are Dawn Fraser, Susan O’Neill and Ken Wallis, he told Sofie Formica.

“We’ve got, I think, about six players from the Gold Coast Suns coming up, about three or four from the Brisbane Lions, Ben Hannant the ex-rugby league player is taking part…”

While the event will look a little different under COVID restrictions, Mr Meyers is confident a spectacular event will still be put forward.

“It’s fantastic we’re actually running an event and we’re just so excited.

“Our team is just chomping at the bit and we’ll do the best possible job we can.”
