Son arrives at aged care home to discover mother in body bag

Sofie Formica

A Brisbane man is demanding answers after an aged care facility failed to tell him his mother had died.

Steve Grady says he went to visit his mother Norma at the Arcare facility in Taigum last month, where he saw police loading a body into a van.

He told Sofie Formica it wasn’t until later he realised the body was that of his mother’s, as he hadn’t been told of her death.

“To think I walked past my own mother, it blows my mind,” Mr Grady said.

“I would’ve liked to have been able to, if she was on the bed in there, give her a cuddle.”
