The state government’s housing fund has been doubled to allow for the construction of thousands of social and affordable homes.

Ahead of today’s long-awaited housing summit, Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk this morning announced an extra $1 billion will be invested in the fund.

It means another 5,600 social housing homes will be built in Queensland.

But senior 9News reporter Tim Arvier told Sofie Formica while it’s great news, the injection “doesn’t really solve anything for the people who are sleeping in their cars now”.
