Last week Ray Hadley received a phone call from listener Theo, detailing a terrible story.

Theo’s son-in-law Andrew Holford died in tragic circumstances at the young age of 37, leaving Theo’s daughter Diana without a husband, and their three gorgeous sons Hayden, Billy and Jack without a dad.

Andrew coached the Under 7s for the Maroubra Rugby League Club, and last Friday evening a benefit was held to raise money for the family.

Expecting to raise a few thousand dollars, Ray was blown away to hear the fundraiser has brought in close to $100,000 for Diana and her sons.

“I’m regularly amazed by people’s generosity… but for a small football club to get behind a family like this and to come up with that sort of money is just incredible.”

Speaking with Ray, Theo says it was “sensational”.

“I think a lot’s to be said for my son-in-law, he was a lovely person, my daughter and the people around them that helped put it all together.

“Thanks very much Ray for showing interest, Diana and the boys will be much appreciative.”
