Small businesses offering cheapest power prices
The head of the consumer regulator says smaller energy companies are now offering the cheapest prices following a crackdown on power companies.
An Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC) report found nearly 800,000 customers have had their bills reduced since the introduction of new legislation.
ACCC Chairman Rod Sims tells John Stanley smaller companies now have the cheapest offers.
“Some of the big players in response have increased the price to some of their lower offers to try and recoup some of the money.
“But the interesting thing there is it’s mainly the three big players that have done that… the smaller players largely haven’t.”
