Sledgehammer-wielding man arrested after lengthy Brisbane siege

A man wielding a sledgehammer has been charged after a lengthy stand-off that stretched out over eight hours in inner Brisbane.
Police were called to a Spring Hill home yesterday after reports the man forced his way into the residence at around 3.30pm, sending the resident family fleeing.
The 39-year-old, who had barricaded himself inside a room, was peacefully arrested just before 2am.
He has been charged with two counts of enter dwelling and commit, as well as one count each of attempt enter dwelling with intent and possess tainted property.
9News reporter Peter Fegan told 4BC Breakfast the man is set to front Brisbane Magistrates Court today.
