Slain teen’s father wants to discuss youth crime reforms with Premier

The father of a slain teenager is appealing to meet with the Premier to discuss what he believes are failures in the government’s youth crime reform.
Ben Beaumont’s son Angus was just 15 when he was stabbed during a confrontation with two teens in Redcliffe.
Both his killers, who were aged 14 at the time, already had lengthy criminal histories.
Annastacia Palaszczuk last year announced major reforms to youth justice but Mr Beaumont doesn’t think they go far enough.
“I’d like to ask her how her reforms are going to actually meet the public’s expectations in holding youth criminals accountable for their behaviour and keep them away from the general public,” he told Sofie Formica.
“You’ve got violent, repeat offenders doing armed robberies, stabbing people multiple times, holding up servos, attacking people in shopping centres, carparks, streets, and they’re getting bail.
“I don’t see how that is protecting the community and meeting our expectations.”
