A serious crash on the Sunshine Coast has prompted the closure of the Sunshine Coast motorway.

Six people are being taken to hospital following the three car crash at Coolum Beach.

It’s believed two cars crashed head-on, and one swerved to avoid the crash.

Four of the patients are children.

11 ambulance vehicles responded, including critical care paramedics and flight care paramedics.

A woman in her 30s suffered pelvic injuries, a man in his 30s suffered neck and abdominal pain, a pre-teen suffered numerous injuries, and three toddlers were also transported to hospital, one in a critical condition.
