A three-year study has revealed nearly 6000 veterans are homeless every year.

The Australian Housing and Urban Infrastructure Report found 21.7 per cent of veterans reported being homeless at some point in their life, compared to 13 per cent of the general population.

Wounded Heroes CEO Martin Shaw tells Steve Price the figures are awful.

“The rise in the calls to our organisation… has been outstanding. It is shocking to us.

“We should be working altogether and making it stop because we’re losing guys and girls to suicide because they think there’s no hope, they’ve let their families down.”
