Scott Emerson

South east Queensland is being lashed by severe thunderstorms, with a cell passing over the Brisbane CBD.

A warning is current for Brisbane, Logan, Redlands and Ipswich.

Bureau of Meteorology meteorologist Harry Clarke told 4BC Drive it’s very slow moving, drifting towards the north, north-west.

“The main risk is heavy rainfall but damaging winds can’t be ruled out with that one as well.”

It’s expected to last around an hour.

He says there will be a few showers over the weekend, and the chance of storms.
