A search is underway again this morning for a man who went missing in the water off Miami yesterday.

Members of the public tried to reach the man as he was dragged out to sea at Miami just after 6pm but were unsuccessful.

It sparked a land, sea and air search but so far the man hasn’t been found.

Nine News reporter Mackenzie Colahan told Neil Breen there’s been conflicting reports on who has gone missing.

Initial reports indicated the search was for a fisherman who got into trouble while rock fishing.

“We were told by police here on the scene last night it was actually a 35-year-old Brazilian national who lives on the Gold Coast.

“He was on the beach here at Miami, he saw a fisherman get knocked off his feet and swept out, he’s gone in after the fisherman to try and save him.”
