Months of hard work is finally over for students across Australia with the release of the NSW HSC results today and the anticipation of Queensland’s OP results on Saturday.

While many students and parents will be relieved, not everyone receives the mark they wanted, leaving them asking what do I do?

General Manager of Apprenticeships Support Australia Peter Gilchrist joins Deborah Knight to discuss the alternate way into the workforce.

“We’re urging parents and young people that if you didn’t get your tertiary admission ranking that you were after, there are still plenty of career options.

“With about 700 to choose from, there are industries like technology, childcare, healthcare, retail.”

Peter also mentions some lesser-known industries which offer apprenticeships including beekeeping and civil construction.

“Almost anything you can think of, there is an apprenticeship or a traineeship for that industry.”
