Rumours of a rift between council and governments over Olympic infrastructure plans
Tomorrow marks 10 years until the opening ceremony of the 2032 Olympic Games, but there’s rumours of “disunity” between the three levels of government.
Brisbane will host the Games with the Opening Ceremony to take place at a revamped Gabba.
Some of the plans include an Olympic Pool built into the Brisbane River, an Urban Kitchen on Albert Street, an Eternal Flame at Riverstage and a gigantic playground under the Turbot Street underpass.
Peter Fegan, filling in on Brisbane Live, says he has been told of disunity between the three levels of governments over the proposed projects.
Deputy mayor Krista Adams hosed down speculation that the Brisbane City Council, state government and federal government were at loggerheads.
“We have taken the opportunity of 10 years out to get people thinking big,” she said.
