Rugby league pay feud continues, RLPA stands firm on negotiations

The Rugby League Players’ Association says they are committed to looking after players across the board as a fierce stoush continues with the NRL over the CBA.
The association’s boss, Clint Newton, said it’s important the agreement is done right for league players into the future.
He said it was a huge commitment for all parties involved.
“I think the media reporting has been pretty accurate in regards to there being a stalemate with the NRL,” he told Peter Psaltis on Wide World of Sports.
“And clubs are in the same positions as players, which is frustrating for both of us, as key stakeholders but both parties are firmly united.
“We both understand what our constituents expect.”
He said on average, NRL players’ careers span for four years, and many don’t make the amount of money that grab headlines.
“Yes there are some players that are paid well … but again players have short careers, it can be over in instant and we have got to make sure we are looking after them across the board.”
