Rolling Stone Australia has today released their list of the 200 greatest Australian albums of all time.

Back in Black by AC/DC took the number one spot, INXS came in at second with their 1987 album Kick.

Whispering Jack by John Farnham finished off the top three.

Editor of Rolling Stone Australia, Tyler Jenke, admitted it was a tough job to narrow the list down!

“With great difficulty, there was a lot of discussion about this sort of thing,” he said on 4BC Drive.

“But right from the get go, what we did, we reached out to a whole lot of people and said give us your favourite album. So that was record labels, journalist, musicians, we then had a huge long list to get down to what you have today.”

He said the average year for albums was 1997.

Scott Emerson said they weren’t very contemporary albums!
