Residents have been told to stay inside as police deal with an emergency situation in Coorparoo and Wooloowin.

It’s not yet clear if the incidents are linked.

4BC contributor Jason Dasey, who lives near Coorparoo, was out for a walk out with his wife but now can’t get back home.

“The whole area has been ringed off by police,” he told Scott Emerson.

He says their 12-year-old daughter is at home.

She saw a police officer in their backyard who told her to stay inside.

The exclusion zone includes Stanley Street East, Tiber Street, Halifax Street, Milsom Street, Adina Street, Norman Avenue, Rome Street and Thackery Street.

A short time ago, he says he saw a man being taken into custody on Rome Street.

Police and emergency services remain at the scene.

In Woolowin, police say a number of suspicious items were located around 1pm.

Residents are urged to stay indoors or avoid the area.

The exclusion zone includes 100 metres surrounding Hamley Street, including Adamson Street and Kedron Street.
