The federal government has announced its ‘ReMade in Australia’ campaign to encourage greater recycling.

Under the plan, Australia’s waste will be reduced by reusing materials, such as tyres to help build new roads.

Environment Minister Sussan Ley told Spencer Howson it’s a policy which will both help the planet and deliver new jobs.

“The government has invested in this, but the sector – the manufacturing sector – has stepped up,” she said. “They can see this is a really good thing, not just for the environment, but for jobs and industries.”

Ms Ley said the campaign will bring back the pride built from the ‘Made in Australia’ campaign.

“[It’s] designed to give consumers confidence that what they put in their recycling bin is actually recycled.”
