Reducing kids’ screen time should be on the agenda these holidays, experts say

Experts say getting kids away from their screens should be part of every parents’ holiday plans.
Screen time among teens and children has been on the rise since the start of the pandemic.
The University of Queensland’s Dr Allan Ralph encouraged parents to have a conversation with kids about screen time.
He said excessive screen-time can lead to sleep disruptions, and potentially a decline in critical thinking skills.
“It does result in a lower physical activity schedule, a lower social connectedness, a lower ability to interact with people in the real world, so these are speculated as to be detrimental in terms of relying too much on screen time.”
