Ready, set go! The race is on to find Queensland’s future Olympians

A campaign to find the state’s future Olympic stars has kicked off after applications opened yesterday.
The Youfor2032 athlete talent search will scour the state to handpick 400 kids for systematic development programs, starting them on the track to Brisbane 2032.
Young people in the state’s centre are today sampling the Queensland Academy of Sport’s elite testing program.
Sport Minister Stirling Hinchliffe told Rob McKnight Youfor2032 is Australia’s largest-ever athlete talent identification program, with around 50,000 applicants expected.
“We’re taking it not just across those traditional Olympic sports but Paralympic sports as well,” he said.
“Basically, we’re wanting right now young people to register, between the ages of 13 and 23 for potential Olympic athletes and ages of 13 through to 30 for potential Para-athletes, to register so we can put them in this program.”
