Ray stunned as Logan Paul’s energy drink exceeds legal caffeine limit
Ray Hadley has given influencers Logan Paul and KSI another spray after learning their energy drink Prime Energy contains six times the amount of caffeine as a can of Coke.
The pair made headlines last week after using an appearance at Nine’s Sydney headquarters to promote their new drink, Prime Hydration, to throngs of young fans.
Prime Hydration is the caffeine-free version of the other drink the pair are promoting, called Prime Energy. The Sydney Morning Herald reports that Prime Energy is not available for general sale in Australia – however it can be found on online reselling sites.
The Herald report goes on to say that the maximum allowable amount of caffeine in a drink in Australia is 32 mg per 100 mL but a can of Prime Energy has 56 mg per 100 mL.
It’s understood products are not bound by these limits if considered a ‘dietary supplement’.
Labelling on the Prime Energy drink contains a small disclaimer that it’s not recommended for children under the age of 18.
“Their target audience is boys, aged 14,” Ray said. “There needs to be someone in federal government that needs to look at this product and say, ‘Hang on a sec, it’s not a supplement’!”
“Would you let your kids drink it? Are you aware of the level of caffeine in this Prime drink?
“And the other thing, who’s paying $10 for a can of drink!? Fair dinkum…”
CORRECTION: This story has been updated to clarify that Logan Paul and KSI were in Australia to promote the Prime Hydration drink, which is caffeine-free, and that the Prime Energy drink is only available for purchase on Australian resale websites.
