One of Australia’s iconic country music duos, McAlister Kemp, have released their first single together since parting ways seven years ago. 

Drew McAlister and Troy Kemp told Ray Hadley they spent their time apart pursuing their own projects.

“We had quite a lot of time apart, a lot of time to think about what direction we’d gone and we’d also scratched an itch that we’d needed to scratch,” McAlister said.

“It just felt right, it really did, and it’s been fun writing all these songs again.”

Ray decided to get to the bottom of who brought the duo back together.

Ray Hadley: “Now, who made the phone call? Did Drew pick up the phone to Troy, did Troy ring? Or was it sort of just a combination of forces that brought you back together.

Drew McAlister: “Well, I think Troy probably sent me a text. Is that right, Troy? It was three years ago!”

Troy Kemp: “I just poured out my heart in an email, Ray. I just had to beg him to come back and be a part of my life.

Ray Hadley: “I hope you didn’t wait three years to answer the poor bugger, did you Drew?”

Drew McAlister: “No mate, no, it was pretty instant, but I think I may have ignored him a couple times before that! No, no, I’m kidding!”
