Racing club CEO ‘asked to work from home’ amid sex abuse charges

The CEO of Albion Park Harness Racing Club has been asked to work from home as he faces sexual abuse charges.
Scott Steele has been committed to stand trial, charged with two counts of sexual assault and one count of rape.
Police allege he sexually assaulted two women in separate incidents during April 2015 and December 2016, several years before he took up his current role with Albion Park.
In a statement provided to The Ray Hadley Morning Show on July 12, club vice chairman Greg Mitchell said Mr Steele had not been stood down because employees had indicated they were “comfortable” with his continued employment.
But Ray Hadley was this morning able to reveal “they’ve changed tune”.
A fresh statement provided by Mr Mitchell today has informed Ray that Mr Steele has now been asked to work from home.
“We have asked Scott Steele to work from home until we have reviewed staff feedback and taken advice,” he wrote.
It comes after a number of Albion Park employees contacted Ray, claiming the full extent of the allegations and charges Mr Steele is facing were never brought to their attention.
