Queensland’s ‘ever-shifting goalposts’ concerning for national plan

Article image for Queensland’s ‘ever-shifting goalposts’ concerning for national plan

Neil Breen is concerned the Queensland government has abandoned the national pandemic exit plan.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk suggested at the weekend Queensland could already be shooting for a 90 per cent vaccination target.

“The national plan is 80 per cent – we’re getting more work in on that. But the more people we get vaccinated, the better. So would I like to see Queenslanders coming out and getting vaccinated? Dr Young has said up to 90 per cent we’d like to see.”

Neil was exasperated by the comments.

“In the ever-shifting goalposts of the state government and the mind of the Chief Health Officer, suddenly the 80 per cent mark that we’ve been searching for has stretched out to a different figure.

“So what – is she against the national plan again?”
