Queensland teachers set to vote on wage rise
The Queensland Teachers Union has welcomed the state government’s offer of an 11 per cent pay rise for teachers over the next 3 years.
The union has been negotiating with the government since the start of the year.
The offer that’s been put on the table includes a 4 per cent wage increase this year, 4 per cent next year and 3 per cent the following year.
There’s also incentives for teachers to move regional.
Union President Cresta Richardson says it’s a sensible offer by the government.
She said it was important to incentivise teachers going regional.
“We know that the teacher shortage is really harshly felt in some of those areas,” she told Sofie Formica on 4BC Afternoons.
Union members will now have to vote on the proposal.
