Queensland MP Keith Pitt has implored the Queensland government to follow the roadmap outlined by the national cabinet to get domestic borders open.

The Hinkler MP said his community is divided over border restrictions.

But he implored premiers to “do what they said they would” and follow the national plan.

“I’ve got tourism businesses in Hervey Bay and Bundaberg who I am sure would love to have the people of Sydney and Melbourne at least be able to come up here, utilise these great facilities, visit our wonderful state and put some money in the tin,” he told 4BC Drive.

He said “it’s not just about the NRL grand final”.

“We now need to get on with what’s the right decision, and that is deliver on the national plan, let’s get our borders open and our country back running.”
