A home quarantine trial will allow thousands of Queensland residents to return home from interstate.

Invitations have been sent out to allow some residents to take part in the trial, which will start from Monday.

Strict criteria will require returned residents to be fully vaccinated and return a negative coronavirus test before their flight.

Bryce, a Brisbane advance care paramedic who became stuck in Victoria after farewelling his dying mother, told Neil Breen he’d received an invitation.

“I was ecstatic! There was a light at the end of the tunnel.

“It’s an initiative, it’s a trial, and if people do the right thing and don’t muck up, I think it’s going to be a way forward to get everyone back home.”
