Up to 300 misconduct cases within Queensland Police Services are being reviewed, after an appeal court ruling found the service’s practice for launching disciplinary proceedings was invalid.

Dating back to 2019, the cases vary in seriousness, including those involving domestic violence, drugs and the misuse of personal information.

Queensland’s Police Commissioner, Katarina Carroll, told Bill McDonald that an independent assessment committee has now been set up, headed by Acting Deputy Mark Wheeler, to look at every single discipline matter and how it is to be handled in the future.

The committee will review hundreds of cases, including matters of domestic violence, sexual harassment and misuse of information.
