Queensland’s Matt Denny won gold in discus last night, in what was an entertaining win at Birmingham.

The 25-year-old from Allora, near Toowoomba, was feeling confident ahead of the final.

His last throw, 67.26 metres, won him gold and it’s his personal best.

“I felt pretty locked in leading into the comp, and especially on the day when I was warming up,” he told Neil Breen on Brisbane Live.

“I didn’t exactly expect it to go the way it did, just the way it played out.”

England’s Lawrence Okoye, who won silver and is a great mate of Denny’s, crashed the Aussie’s interview after his win!
