QLD set to pass youth justice bill tonight
The Queensland government’s youth justice reforms will be pass parliament this evening.
Changes include making breach of bail an offence for young offenders, a significant investment to fund more police patrols and new penalties for offenders who boast about crimes on social media.
Senior 9 News reporter Tim Arvier says the final debate is happening now.
He says it will pass with the support of the parliament.
“In a couple of weeks we will have those increased penalties and we will hopefully be able start to see how it will all work, that funding for extra police patrols will kick in too,” he told Neil Breen.
But he said the test will be next summer.
