Prime Minister announces $38 billion expansion of Defence Force

The Prime Minister has unveiled the biggest peacetime expansion of the Defence Force in Australia’s history.
$38 billion will be spent employing more than 18,000 soldiers, sailors and aviators by 2040.
The investment boost is expected to swell the ADF’s workforce by a third, to over 100,000 troops and civilians.
Additional personnel will be tasked with new capabilities, such as cyber security and nuclear instability.
It comes in addition to further defence spending flagged in the upcoming federal budget.
