The Prime Minister has confirmed he wasn’t given any warning before Julia Banks quit the Liberal Party and joined the crossbench.

It’s understood the Victorian MP informed some independents “weeks in advance” of her plans.

But Scott Morrison has admitted to Alan Jones, he had no idea Ms Banks was leaving the party until her speech in parliament on Tuesday.

“Did she tell you?” asks Alan.

“No, she didn’t. And of course that’s disappointing,” says the Prime Minister.

“All of our colleagues were disappointed.

“But we’re not going to stop Bill Shorten becoming prime minister by sitting around being disappointed.

“We’re going to stop him by actually getting out there and prosecuting the case.”
