The family of missing woman Lynette Dawson is hopeful a fresh search of her former Northern Beaches home, could lead to some answers, 36 years on.

Four areas of the backyard are the focus of police, who’ve begun a fresh dig at the Bayview property on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, which was home to the Dawson family when mother of two Lynette vanished in 1982.

Detective Superintendent Scott Cook says they’ll spend five days re-examining the site.

Macquarie Radio’s Ben Fordham broke the news on Twitter Wednesday morning.

Two coronial inquests have determined that her husband, former rugby league star and school teacher Chris Dawson, is the killer but he’s never been charged.

The Teacher’s Pet, podcast series detailing Chris Dawson’s affair with a high school student, has renewed public interest in the cold case.
