On the show: Peter continues coverage of the unfolding investigations into the horrific Sydney stabbing attack at Westfield Bondi Junction yesterday, with updates from
Nine’s Today Show Reporter Jack Hahn who is reporting from the scene and Nine Senior Reporter Damian Ryan. QLD Acting Assistant Commissioner Andrew Massingham joins Feegs to debrief on the emerging details and how this is impacting Brisbane shopping centres this morning. We also hear from Belinda Beasley, mother of stabbing victim Jack Beasley who is the namesake for ‘Jack’s Law’ that allows security wanding operations to take place in certain QLD safe night precincts. Belinda shares her thoughts on the awful events in Bondi Junction and why she is advocating now, more than ever, for a national roll out of ‘Jack’s Law’. Mark Ryan, QLD Minister for Police and Corrective Services, also provides a statement on the awful events and the possibility of a ‘Jack’s Law’ rollout.

For our Local Issues segment; CEO of QLD Fruit and Veg Growers (QFVG) Rachel Chambers calls in to break down the recent spate of enquiries on price gouging by the major supermarkets. Rachel talks about how QFVG plans to tackle these issues and about the impact that shareholders and advocates can have to change the behaviour of the major supermarkets. CEO of the Taxi Council QLD Blair Davies joins to discuss the increase in taxi fares in response to competition from ride-sharing services and the recent regulations introduced to combat drivers trying to negotiate fares off the meter. Deputy Director of QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute and Head of Hepatic Fibrosis Laboratory Professor Grant Ramm calls in to share their recent discoveries related to the causes of severe inflammation among people with chronic liver disease. Professor Ramm says this could pave the way for new targeted therapeutics to treat this condition. 4BC Sports Reporter Sam Leckie provides an extensive sports update; and we look ahead to the coming week with your long-range weather forecast.
