Toyota’s first battery electric car, the BZ4X, goes on sale in Australia
Toyota’s first all-electric model, the BZ4X SUV, has arrived in showrooms with a claimed driving range of up to 436Km. Available in two grades, the front wheel drive variant from $66,000, with the all-wheel drive model with dual electric motors priced from $74,900. The front wheel drive version of the BZ4X is $7,640 dearer to the most expensive Toyota RAV4 hybrid and slightly cheaper to the rear drive Tesla Model Y. However, sales projections of the electric Toyota are well below that of the Tesla – Toyota expecting to sell 1500 in a full year whereas Tesla last year sold over 28,000 Model Y’s. Toyota is offering the BZ4X through a full-service lease including scheduled servicing, repairs, tyres, road assistance, comprehensive insurance and on-road costs in one easy monthly payment.
