Three top tips to getting over 45s back to work

Clinton Maynard

The federal government has announced an initiative to support Australians over 45-yrs in boosting skills, strengthening resilience and teaching new job searching techniques.

For those over 45 wishing to obtain work or transition from one career to another, the prospect can be daunting, and it can have an impact on your mental well-being as well as financially.

Andrew Sanders, recruitment expert from Scotford Fennessy Recruitment Services reveals to Clinton Maynard the general three-point guide for job seekers in this age bracket is to:

1. Emphasise the transferable skills obtained over years of experience that are industry agnostic.

2. Don’t hold back on old school communication – ring and/or visit the employer.

3. Highlight experiences that are going to be of value to the employer, something that a new applicant would be unable to offer.
