The death & life of environmental artist Christo

Mike Jeffreys

Matthew Westwood, The Australian’s chief arts correspondent, joins Michael about the life of environmental artist Christo – the man who wrapped Sydney’s coastline more than half a century ago – who died in New York on Sunday at age 84.

Christo and his wife Jeanne-Claude, were artists noted for their large-scale, site-specific environmental installations, often large landmarks and landscape elements wrapped in fabric – including the Reichstag in Berlin, the Pont-Neuf in Paris, Running Fence in California, and The Gates in New York City’s Central Park.
