Billy Slater says it was the right decision to drop skipper Daly Cherry-Evans from the Maroons line-up.

The Brisbane coach says Cherry-Evans handled the news with humility and revealed he had a “great” conversation with him.

“I’ve got a great relationship with Daly, we started off by being teammates … the first thing I will say is, Daly has done so much for this jersey, he’s done so much for this state, he’s done so much for this group of players, but it comes to an end for all us at some stage,” he told Peter Psaltis.
