The Broad Culture Change Parliament Needs

The world of politics has seen a public shift of what the workplace culture standards should be in Parliament and in all workplaces.

Lawyer, business owner, and Sky News Commentator Caroline Di Russo says behavioural standards in politics must lift across the board.

She says, “The corporate world has come down on poor behaviour like a tonne of bricks. Why can’t we do that in politics?”

When asked what our politicians should do, Di Russo says we need a bipartisan approach.

Leaders of both sides need to “get on the phone… and deal with these issues quickly”.

Di Russo also says that lifting the standard of decency in parliament should not be paid for by the taxpayer.

It’s not just a problem concerning men either.

Di Russo says the unsavoury comments made by Greens Senator Lydia Thorpe clearly demonstrates why quotas don’t work.

She also says, “Blokes self-flagellating doesn’t fix the issue. Women need to be as much a part of the solution”.

As Di Russo mentions, the Jenkins Reports highlights the fact that 61% of people who engaged in bullying were women.
