Tesla massive price drop on its Model S and Model X models

David Berthon

I guess we’re used to Elon Musk pulling surprises however I’m sure existing Tesla owners are rather dismayed by the recent announcement by Tesla Australia that it was slashing prices on it Model S sedan and Model X SUV. Local Tesla prices have been slashed by up to $87,000 on the back of the parent company announcing it was moving to on-line only global sales, closing most of its retail stores. The move to the on-line sales model will no doubt lead to job losses although the exact impact on its Australian operations is yet to be revealed. The standard range Teslsa model S
sedans now kicks off at $115,600, the long range Model X long range SUV now from $127,200.
Whilst no one can criticize Tesla for making their products more affordable the massive price reduction has surely left a sour taste in the mouth of Tesla’s early adopters who’ve taken a massive hit in re-sale values overnight. I’m David Berthon
