Support for fathers and co-parents

Becoming a new dad or co-parent can be a scary experience. Everything is new and you are still figuring things out. Statistics say in Australia one in seven new fathers experience high levels of psychological distress and as many as one in ten experience depression or anxiety. It is common for these stressed fathers to be reluctant in seeking help. It is therefore so important for the general community to grow an understanding of stress in new fathers and increase the number of those who take action and seek help when it’s needed. Thankfully we are seeing more and more support options becoming available for fathers and co-parents to help them during this time.

San Midwife Alex joins John Stanley to talk about supporting new fathers and co-parents when they may be struggling and answers some commonly asked questions.
