Subaru’s top-selling Forester SUV gets some improvements for 2022

Subaru’s Forester SUV has been their best seller now for a number of years, a mid-sized SUV with a very strong following – different in many ways to many of the medium sized SUV’s now in the market. A constant all-wheel-drive with a go anywhere ability it has a strong welded on owner base who swear by Subaru’s build quality and reputation for serviceability and reliability.
The current Subaru Forester seven model range including two petrol electric hybrids was face lifted late last year. I drove the high-spec 2.5i-S at $44,190. All Foresters now feature a 2.5-litre non-turbo engine with CVT automatic and Subaru’s permanent all-wheel-drive.
All now gain Subaru’s added eyesight driver assist technology, upgraded suspension tune and off-road technology updates. The 2.5i-S received an updated instrument panel, larger 8-inch touch screen, the LED headlights gaining Adaptive Driving Beam which detects oncoming drivers and automatically dips the high beam. This is just one a long list of features that the Forester provides, making it one of the most comprehensively equipped mid-sized SUV’s in the market.
It has few if any faults, but one is the fact that it has been around for a long time and for me its starting to show its age – the interior tight for the class and looking aged compared to some of the new mid-sized SUV designs.
I’m David Berthon.
