Subaru’s latest Forester loaded with technology and a new five-year/ unlimited km warranty
A fifth generation Subaru Forester arrived last September introducing a new level of technology that puts this all-wheel-drive SUV right up there with the very best in a body that offers far more room but disappointingly differs little in style. Nevertheless a test of the 2.5i-L Forester really showed up its polish – a more refined 2.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine linked to a new 7-step CVT automatic. It feels a cut above, very polished with exceptional ride, steering and drive-ability irrespective of road surface. Loaded with technology one can understand the popularity of what is Subaru’s best-selling model.
Technology wise, a small LED camera in the dash monitors eye movement and issues a beep if you’re not watching the road or glancing at your phone. At $35,990 the Subaru Forester 2.5i-L gets a 360 degree camera and a driver attention camera. I find the dash and instrumentation a little too busy with too many surfaces but the good news is the new five-year/unlimited kilometre warranty. I’m David Berthon
