Stereotypical attributes of the two major political parties revealed
Phil chats with Barry Urquhart, Consumer Behaviour Analyst and Managing Director of Marketing Focus, about new research into public perceptions of Australia’s major political parties.
The research, conducted across five states, found that most people see little real difference between the two major parties on key issues like the cost of living, health, education, and energy. Topics like zero emissions, green hydrogen, nuclear power, and defence spending sparked mentions of minor parties, including the Greens, Teals, and the Jackie Lambie Network.
Barry Urquhart noted that while policy differences between the major parties are minimal, there are clear public perceptions about the leadership styles of each party. He believes a campaign focused on leadership could strongly influence voter behavior.
