SsangYong fires a rocket into the ute market with their value packed long-wheelbase XLV Musso

David Berthon

From SsangYong this week the long wheelbase version of their dual-cab Musso ute. The Musso XLV has a 110mm longer wheelbase with a 310mm longer tray rising to 1610mm – payload up from
790 kilo to 1020. The only ute currently built out of Korea the SsangYong Musso XLV impressed me last week on a number of levels in wet and rugged Victoria – all six vehicles showed consistent
high quality, the 2.2-litre turbo diesel strong, quiet and with 420 Nm’s of torque while equipment levels for the money leave any other ute in the market wanting. Three grades, the entry ELX, the
only model available with leaf springs and manual transmission kicks off at 33,990 drive-away, 35,990 in auto – and features a limited slip diff, cruise control, 17-inch alloys, a full size spare, a reversing camera, wheel mounted audio controls, autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning and Apple Car Play and Android auto and navigation displayed on a high-definition 8 inch colour touch screen. Step up to the Musso XLV Ultimate at $39,990 on-road and gain 18-inch alloys, front and rear park assist, a multi-link rear end, heated and vented seats, lane change assist, blind spot detection and tyre pressure monitoring. The Musso Ultimate Plus at $43,990 driveway further adds speed sensitive steering, a 360 degree camera, powered heated and vented leather seats. Throw in a seven-year unlimited kilometre warranty and road side assist and the SsangYong Musso XLV is the new value buy in dual-cab utes – Drive one you’ll be surprised by its value.
