Speeding up sugar’s conversion into fuel

Researchers have established a way of creating fuel, plastic, rubber and food additives from sugarcane, in bulk.

The University of Queensland has been using a specific enzyme to speed up the slowest step in processing sugar into a chemical called ‘isobutanol’.
